Let’s Make Lemon Grass Air Fried Chicken Wings!
The ZESTY air fried chicken skin will give a very glass-like crunch that is unmistakable to be something other than delicious. This is a healthier and easier take on lemongrass fried chicken that can be found in local asian restaurants. The lemon grass gives it a unique zesty taste that is unlike anything else.
The lemongrass cannot be substituted with lemon juice and lemon zest, although that would still make a very delicious drumstick. Lemongrass can be found at the local South East Asian supermarket. It gives a very warming zesty taste that can not be replicated by anything else.
To use Lemongrass, cut off the dried upper stalk and mince the tender bottom stalk. The dried upper stalk can be used to make soup easier tastier.

Important! After air frying, don’t open the air fryer door, and let the wings cool down in there for at least 5 minutes to develop an even crispier skin. Check out notes and further details on how to make the skin even crunchier.

Lemongrass Air Fried Chicken Wings:
- Use a paper towel to dry the wings by patting the wings dry. You can also dry the wings by letting them rest on a rack in the fridge. I prefer the latter method, as I don’t want to waste paper towels. In a bowl, mix Chicken Wings, Salt, Pepper, Ginger, Garlic, Shallot, Lemongrass, Chili Oil (optional), and Oil together until the wings are evenly coated. Cover the bowl and let the wings marinate for at least 30 minutes, optimally up to 8 hours or overnight.

2. Even spread the wings out on the air fryer, and air fry on 400F for 8-10 minutes until it is golden brown. Flip the wings, and air fry again for 5-8 minutes. After air frying, don’t open the air fryer and leave the wings in there to cool for at least 5 minutes. This will help the wings further develop a crispier skin. Optional, but for even more crispier skin, brush the wings with a little bit more oil and air fry at 300f for another 5 minutes. After, don’t open the air fryer door and let the wings cool for five minutes.
